Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP)

“I received the Tdap shot when I was around 34 weeks pregnant. Unaware that it was the new “mandatory” they didn’t give me time to say no before I was stuck. I shrugged it off and went about my day. An hour later I began itching. Like uncontrollable itching. From head to toe! I began looking things up, asking members of my pregnancy group if anyone else experienced the same… nothing. I called my doctor the next morning and he had me come in IMMEDIATELY. He said he was afraid I had Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP), which could cause a miscarriage after 38weeks. We did testing and my liver levels were suppose to be a 21 MAX… They were 25 and climbing! We set up a date to be induced at 37 weeks. I went in for a check up at 36 weeks and told I wasn’t leaving we’re starting induction tonight! Baby girl was born with respiratory issues and a heart murmur and was transferred to Valley Children’s!”
